The Pondicherry Art Academy hosted the 5th State Level Painting Competition on 12 January, 2025, at Puduvai Tamil Sangam, promoting art among school students in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. Smrithi.R, of Class 7 student won the Best Brush award in the Junior Category. Honourable Chief Minister of Pondicherry, Shri. N. Rangaswamy, awarded the Best Brush award and a cash prize of Rs 1000/-. Congratulations!

The Bharat Scouts and Guides Diamond Jubilee and Muthamizh Arignar Kalaignar Centenary Jamboree was inaugurated by the Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister, Shri. Udhayanidhi Stalin, on 27th January 2025 at SIPCOT, Manapparai, Trichy. The event witnessed the participation of 16,000 scouts and guides from across India and overseas, including Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Nepal, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka. Read more.

Children from the Resource Department were invited to take part in the Pongal Celebrations held in Chettinad Sath Sadhana, a school for special children, on 31 January, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. Read more.

Our team participated in the Steamphony event at Shiv Nadar School on 31st January 2025. The event featured a series of competitions that tested our skills in various areas, including debate, digital arts, and quiz. Read more.

G. Neha Gajendran, a Class 5 student of Bala Vidya Mandir won the 1st Runner-up title in the Spellbee National Level Competition, organised by Fostering the Future, Indore, earning a Certificate of Achievement from FTF Skill Training Centre.

Students of Bala Vidya Mandir, spanning classes 6 to 10, participated in NASO, India’s largest Astronomy and Space Olympiad, held in September 2024. A total of 40 students from Class 6, 17 from Class 7, 10 from Class 8, 13 from Class 9, and 3 from Class 10 participated in the first level examination. Read more.

Dhruv Nitin of Class 2-B won the 1st place in the Interschool State Level Yoga Competition, held on 26 January 2025, competing against nearly 150 participants in the 1st and 2nd standard boys category. Congratulations to the winner.

On 4th January 2025, fifteen students of Bala Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School from Class 11 participated in SHAASTRA -2025, Asia's largest student-run techno managerial festival. Events like these provide a unique platform for students to explore new technologies, develop their creativity, and engage with peers who share similar interests. Students visited various labs and research centers, including the Department of Civil Engineering, Material Mechanism, and the Centre for Nondestructive Evaluation. They learned about material simulation, crack identification, and damage detection in machines and pipes used in mining. They explored different soil types and their impact on building stability, as well as the properties and uses of various minerals and rocks. Additionally, students visited a wheelchair R&D unit, where they learned about machines used to design customized wheelchairs for rehabilitation centers and hospitals. SHAASTRA- 2025 was an inspiring opportunity for the 15 students from Bala Vidya Mandir to step out of their comfort zones, interact with like-minded peers, and think beyond what they usually encounter in the classroom. Trekking Tales: A Day to Remember! The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Cubs, and Bulbuls of Bala Vidya Mandir embarked on an exciting hike to Kundrathur on 7th December 2024. The expedition began at 6:25 am, with enthusiastic participants eager to explore the scenic trails. Upon reaching Kundrathur Murugan Temple, the children learned about its cultural significance. Mr. P.K. Nagesh Lt (S) conducted an informative session on "Directions," providing valuable tips to the young explorers. The group enjoyed a nutritious breakfast, fun games, and activities that strengthened teamwork and problem-solving skills. The hike concluded with the group returning to school by 11:15 am, tired but thrilled. The event showcased the children’s discipline, camaraderie, and spirit of adventure, leaving them with cherished memories.

Students of Bala Vidya Mandir have achieved outstanding success at the state level in Colour & Click Contest conducted by SIP Abacus, Adyar. Yaazhisai T of Class 4A won the Championship Award and a cash prize of ₹5,000 and Lakshitha R of Class 1B was declared the Star Performer, receiving ₹1,000 as cash prize. Congratulations!

Bala Vidya Mandir School is proud to announce that the students excelled at the "Goethe Thiruvizha" held on Thursday 28 November , 2024, at the TEACH Auditorium, Taramani. Organized by the Goethe Institute, the event brought together German language learners from various PASCH schools. Students of BVM participated in skit and collage competitions centered around the thought-provoking theme "AI vs Traditional Wisdom." and secured the Second Prize in the skit competition, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and linguistic skills. We are proud to announce that G. Neha, a Class 5 student of our school has set a new world record for the fastest recitation of 150 Thirukkurals in the least time. On November 6, 2024, Neha achieved this remarkable feat by reciting 150 Thirukkurals in 53 seconds. This outstanding achievement has been recognized by Kalam's World Records. We congratulate Neha on her remarkable achievement and wish her continued success in her future endeavors.

Triambak Eashwar of Class 12 D, was placed 17th overall out of 136 participants in the World Youth Scrabble Championship 2024, held by the World English Scrabble Players' Association at Waskaduwa in Sri Lanka from 6 September to the 8 September 2024. He was placed 3rd out of the 13 players representing India by winning 15 games out of the total 24. Suyash Manchali of Bangalore and Madhav Kamath of Delhi placed 2nd and 4th overall, making this India's best-ever finish at the WYSC. Triambak beat multiple higher-rated players including 2nd seed Adheesha Dissanayake of Sri Lanka and 3rd seed Samuel Crispin of the UK. Triambak was also placed 24th at WYSC 2023 held in Trang, Thailand. He received a trophy and cash prize for the impressive finish. Congratulations!

The Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Public Health, in collaboration with the Sri Ramachandra Innovation and Incubation Centre (SRIIC) and the Industrial Waste Management Association (IWMA), organized the One Health Expo 2024 on 5th November 2024. The event was held at the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Porur, Chennai-116. The theme of the expo focused on "Smart and Sustainable Development, Growth, and Future," addressing the importance of integrating health, environment, and technology to build a sustainable future. On Saturday, 26th October 2024, The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Chennai City CBSE Schools District, hosted a vibrant array of competitions at The Hindu Sr. Sec. School, commemorating Children's Day. Our school proudly shone at this event. Varshini Vinod, a talented Guide from Class 7C, captured the coveted first prize in the Oratorical competition, showcasing exceptional public speaking skills. Bulbul Varnika Dinesh, a melodious voice from Class 4B, won the top honour in the Singing competition, mesmerizing the audience with her musical prowess. Additionally, Cub Atharva Anand from our school dazzled in the Fancy Dress competition, displaying his creative flair. We extend hearty congratulations to these young achievers and applaud their remarkable talents.

NATIONAL CADET CORPS 1 TN NAVAL UNIT - NCC COMBINED ANNUAL TRAINING CAMP 13 TO 22 OCTOBER 2024 JEPPIAAR UNIVERSITY The NCC cadets had a delightful experience and gained numerous essential life skills throughout their participation in the camp held at Jeppiaar University between 13 October and 22 October 2024. The unit organized a firing drill as well as a cultural event. JW RANK NC1 NEELAKSHI SRIRAM, secured the first place in the firing competition, earning a certificate and a gold medal. Congratulations!

G. Neha of Class 5 B has earned a place in the JACKHI Book of World Records for her extraordinary memorisation and creative art skills. Neha showcased her talents by singing Thirupugazh, a 15th-century anthology of Tamil religious songs dedicated to Lord Muruga, while simultaneously completing a portrait of Lord Muruga in just 1 hour and 39 minutes. During this incredible feat, she wrote Lord Muruga's name 989 times and sang 12 Thirupugazh songs 24 times in continuous order, without a single change. This remarkable achievement was recognized and registered on Saturday 12 October, 2024. We are immensely proud of Neha and congratulate her on this outstanding accomplishment!

The National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Chennai, operating from Anna University, conducted a painting competition on Tuesday, 13 August 2024. It was organised under the theme ‘Chandrayaan-3 Touching Lives While Touching The Moon: India Space Saga’ as a part of the National Science Day Celebration - 2024. The artwork of 8 students of Bala Vidya Mandir was sent to them via email. We proudly announce that O. Shivani of Class 7A won the First Prize. She received a certificate of merit and a trophy. The other seven students who participated received certificates of participation and medals.

Sanjith Harish of Class 3 is interested in Indian Mythology and loves to recite stories from epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata. He is currently learning the rudiments of music on the Keyboard and is also an active Chess player. He also has a Youtube channel named VidyaVisthaar with Sanjith where he uploads videos based on Indian epics regularly. He currently holds the record for being the “Fastest kid to answer 100 questions on Ramayana” having done so in 5 minutes and 48 seconds at the age of 7 years and 5 months. Congratulations!

On August 15, 2024, our school Bharat Scouts and Guides students proudly participated in the 78th Independence Day celebrations held at the State Headquarters, Wenlock Park, Triplicane. The students showcased their patriotic spirit through impressive performances of singing and dancing. Their dedication and enthusiasm were evident as they joined in the festivities, honouring India's independence and sovereignty.

BVM students attended a Drama and Dialogue festival at The School, Thazhambur, on 29th and 30th of July 2024. Thirteen students from classes 8, 9, and 10 participated, joining eight other schools. The festival featured plays on various morals, including light pollution and war. Panel discussions followed, allowing students to delve deeper into the themes with the audience. BVM students showcased their critical thinking, empathy, and creativity. The event was a valuable learning experience, fostering growth and exchange of ideas. The students demonstrated dedication and passion for the arts. Congratulations to the students. The festival was a success, promoting meaningful dialogue and artistic expression.

On August 3rd, 2024, the students of Bala Vidya Mandir brought harmony and pride to the State Council Meeting as they guided the gathering in a soulful prayer song.

The students of Bala Vidya Mandir won the Silver Trophy (second place) in dramatics on the theme 'Environmental Cleanliness' at the Sriram Muthamizh Vizha competition held at St Michael's Academy, Adyar.

Our School students shone bright at the annual "Jaagriti" cultural event, held at Lalaji Memorial Omega International School. Amidst stiff competition from over 300 students, our talented students clinched top spots in various events. They secured 1st prize in Adap Tunes, with Siddharth Mukherjee and Sahana Sundar taking top honors. Ahanpathi won 1st prize in Stress Interview, while Shrivanth secured 2nd prize in Bring It Alive. The team of Harishth S, V. Aadarsh, and Ahanpathi won 3rd prize in Pot Pourri. Congratulations to the winners.

Students of our school put up an impressive show at Scintillation, an Inter-School Competition, conducted by the P.S. Senior Secondary School on 1 & 2 July, 2024 by securing the SECOND position overall. The participants showcased their talents and won laurels for the school. Our school students excelled at Astra Inter-School Cultural Competitions conducted by Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyashram, Kilpauk on 4 & 5 July 2024. BVM bagged the Second place in Adaptune, , Third place in Futsal and Fourth position in Shipwreck. Kudos to all the winners!

The combined annual training camp for NCC cadets, organized by 1 TN AIR SQN NCC Tambaram, was held from 12th to 21st June 2024 at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. The camp, led by Commandant Thiagarajan J, had 440 cadets from 6 colleges and 9 schools, supported by ANOs, an aeromodelling instructor, and PI staff. Read more.

Chinmaya Vidyalaya Virugambakkam conducted the Karuna Club Inter-School Competition on November 18, 2023 wherein students of Bala Vidya Mandir bagged several prizes. In the Rangoli competition, the talented duo Bhoomshika and Shrutika from Class 8B clinched the 1st place. The synergy of patriotic tunes echoed as students from classes 6 to 8 bagged 1st place in the Music Medley event. The harmonious group singing performance by Manasvi Sriram and team secured a remarkable 2nd place. Additionally, the eloquent Tamil poetry recitation by Ashwitha from Class 4C earned a well-deserved 3rd place.

Culturals at P S Senior Secondary School We are proud to announce our students' outstanding achievements at the Inter-School Cultural Event conducted by P.S. Senior Secondary School. The Improv-acting team from our school excelled, securing both the First and the second positions. The group dance performance bagged the trophy for the First Place. Additionally, our talented participants dominated the Green Screen category, securing another First place. Furthermore, our students' musical talents were recognized, winning the second place in the Instrumentals category. We secured the second position to claim the title Mr. Scintillation. Overall, we proudly emerged as the runner-up in the event. Congratulations to all the participants!

Our students won the 1st prize in Photography, 2nd prize in Adzap, Group dance, Family fued, 3rd prize in Channel Surfing, Shark tank, Block and tackle events in OVATION, the Inter-School cultural competitions conducted by Sindhi Model School on 30th June 2023.

Kalpakosha '23 was a cultural event organized by Sivaswami Kalalaya, held on June 15th and 16th of this year. Approximately 50 students from classes 11 and 12 enthusiastically participated in a wide range of events and emerged victorious, securing numerous prizes and special mentions. The event featured an array of exciting competitions, including JAM, basketball tournaments for girls and boys, light music performances, a shark tank event, short film-making, group dances, fireless cooking, and many more. Among the participating schools, Bala Vidya Mandir achieved remarkable success, securing the overall runner-up position. Congratulations to all the students who participated!

Rendering of Thamizhthai Vazthu during the inaugural function of World Environment Day “The environment is our mother. Save it, save a life.” Students of Bala Vidya Mandir, Ananya Balaji, Rashmi Shreya and Pradhanya along with Mrs. Jayashree, the music teacher, got an opportunity to sing the Thamizhthai Vazthu during the inaugural function of World Environment Day at Ripon Building, Chennai in the presence of the Honourable Mayor of Chennai Smt. R. Priya, Deputy Mayor and Mr. M. Magesh Kumar and Additional Chief Secretary Dr. J. Radhakrishnan on 5th June 2023.

The Inter house Hindi & Tamil Dramatics was held on 9th February 2023 in the school Auditorium. Class 9 students wrote the script and guided the students of classes 6 to 8. All the four houses participated in the competition. Master Anirudh and Mrs Rajshree Chajjed judged the competition for Hindi and Master Avaneesh and Harini Sivaram judged for Tamil. The children chose very relevant topics like - Self-confidence, Gender Equality, Right Use of Social Media, Avoiding Wastage of Food etc. By writing their own scripts, the students worked as a team and also portrayed their leadership qualities by training the juniors.

Our students participated in S2T competition - "School Towards Technology" conducted by Sairam Engineering College, nearly 4000+ students participated from all over Tamil Nadu. Our students secured "Runner Up" and "5000rs cash price" in "All Terrain Robot".

NCC cadets learn to take pride in themselves and the training also strengthens the spirit of being an Indian. This helps them gear towards joining the forces and providing their 100% when the country is in need of them. The Global Rhythms project steered by LEAP Boundary Breakers along with BVM Adyar is rooted in trust, best regard for our community and empowering children with more confidence & leadership skills. Through Global Rhythms, our students have connected with Padma Bhushan AR Rahman on multiple occasions - either through visit to his studios where our students have recorded, or through on stage performances, or the visit by him and his wife to our school. The contemporary version ‘Der Zinnsoldat und die Papiertänzerin’ by the most famous German Playwright Roland Schimmelpfennig has been translated into Tamil -ஈயச்சிப்பாயும் காகித நர்த்தகியும் (as a project by Goethe-Institut). The 4th and 5th grade students of Bala Vidya Mandir had a chance to visit the German cultural institute (Goethe-Institut) at Nungambakkam to witness the German play enacted in Tamil. The children were amazed by the script and the way the artists presented it.

Bhagavad Gitā Mass chanting was conducted by Samskrita Bharati volunteers. The event started with Sanskrit students of class 9 chanting chapter 12 of Bhagavad Gita. Children of classes 1 to 5 attended the event and chanted the 7th chapter of Bhagavad Gita along with the Samskrita Bharati volunteers.

Classes 9 and 10 students went for an excursion to Pondicherry on 28th November, 2022 with nine teachers and the tour guides. It was a one-day trip. Started early in the morning by 6.20 in four buses. The team reached Mahabalipuram by 7.30 and had breakfast. Then proceeded to Podicherry and reached Aurobindo Ashram by 11 am. Entering the ashram in absolute silence and meditating for about 5 minutes was a great experience for many. Manakkulam temple was the next visit where all the students had darshan and prasad. The students were taken to the beach by bus and spend some time walking and buying small things of their interest from the roadside vendors. Then they had a long walk to see the official building such as Governor’s bungalow, The secretariat and the court. The lunch was sumptuous in Hotel Jayaram where the students and teachers took rest for an hour before proceeding to Auroville. The nature and sanctity observed in Auroville was incomparable. There was a small documentary was shown to the students about the importance of Auroville and about the unique culture the people follow there. The long walk up to the Mathru mandir was a great experience for all. Totally the trip was enlightening and edifying for all.

An excursion trip to Yercaud was arranged for the students of classes 11 and 12. Aroud 230 students and 10 teachers were taken to various tourist spots. In the evening a camp fire was arranged in the resort. The students had an enjoyable time, singing songs and dancing to the music. All in all it was a wonderful trip.

A Panel Discussion between the students of BVM, Adyar and Doon International School, Srinagar as part of EBSB program took place on 22nd November, 2022. The topic was ‘Children of working parents feel neglected’. There was a question-answer session after the panelists’ speech. Mrs. Hema Ravi-Poetess, Author, Reviewer, Editor, graced the event as a moderator. The principals of both the schools shared their thoughts.

Language classes happening between BVM Adyar and DIS Kashmir as part of EBSB programme. Through this innovative measure, the knowledge of the culture, tradition and practices of Tamil Nadu and Kashmir will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding between the two states. A series of video in Tamil Language is sent to DIS Kashmir for a better understanding of our culture and language and similarly DIS Kashmir sends videos on Kashmiri language for a better understanding of their culture.

Anirudhan Vijay of class 9A has successfully completed 1 week CATC Training Camp @ Vel Tech. 

Bala Vidya Mandir won the first prize and the best speaker title in the debate competition organised by P.S. Senior Secondary School.

Kalai Panpadu Thiruvizha was conducted at Presidency Girls’ Higher Secndary School, Egmore on 4th November 2022. Various competitions in arts, dance, folk dance, vocal music, visual arts, indigenous toys and games, drama, etc. were held. Students from Bala Vidya Mandir also enthusiastically participated in different categories. S S Jaswanth of class 9C qualified for the district level competition for Visual Arts 3D and Aadithya M of Class 9C qualified for the district level competition for Indigenous Toys and Games.
